REcycling goal for 2012  — 2/1/2012

RecycleEasy collected about 700,000 pounds of recyclables from homes in the Lynchburg area in 2011.  Our goal for 2012?  One million pounds!  Help us grow and help our community.  Lynchburg still has the lowest recycling rate of the major communities in Virginia.  Over the next few years we would like to help Lynchburg become one of the leaders in the state!  Thank you to all of you that have helped the effort so far and welcome to anyone that can help us grow our effort!

Clarification on Recent Publicity about Curbside Recycling Programs 12/1/2011

First of all, thank you for your patronage and loyalty! We have always tried to provide the most comprehensive service at the lowest cost. From the outset, RecycleEasy’s mission has been to minimize the amount of material from the greater Lynchburg area going to the landfill. We feel the best way to do this is by serving the entire greater Lynchburg area and to take materials that are not taken by others. We believe it is this thorough coverage and genuine dedication to these efforts that has enabled our customer base to grow.

“Recycling made easy” is the idea behind our company – thus our name – we created a curbside program where customers do not have to sort or separate materials. We are currently transporting our materials to Sonoco in Madison Heights. Our goals in selecting a recovery site has been and will always be to maximize materials taken, minimize energy expended in transportation, and keep our program affordable. We previously used Van der Linde near Charlottesvillebecause they provide outstanding service and a high rate of recovery, but we are currently trying Sonoco in an attempt to lower costs and transportation energy while still processing all of the materials that we can collect.

Recent mail has been circulated to the 24503 zip code in which another group has offered a “free” trial of curbside recycling to this zip code only. The participants are to purchase a $60 toter. This group will not pick up several materials that we collect, including glass. After a trial of a few months, a price will be set if they choose to continue to operate.

RecycleEasy is not an experiment. Our three years of experience has provided us the opportunity not only to build a comprehensive residential recycling program, but also to extend our impact through the integrity of our service and our contributions to community activities. We work with schools, businesses, and community organizations to improve and build their programs.

Recycle Easy will continue to solicit feedback from you on what is most important in our program (materials, cost, etc.), how we can improve our program, and other relevant feedback. We are proud of the curbside recycling community that we have created in Lynchburg and the surrounding areas. We appreciate your loyalty and continued business along with your participation in helping us grow during the last few years. We look forward to working together for years to come. Please contact us with any questions, ideas, or concerns! You can reach us via e-mail, telephone, Facebook, or whatever is EASY!
